Menz Medical – A Medical Centre for Men

MeNZ Medical Centre introduces a new concept in health care for men and is a first for Christchurch. The centre is designed to offer men the highest quality service which is completely confidential, thorough and in quiet, comfortable surroundings. Consultations are by appointment only, with plenty of time allowed for a thorough examination and discussion. Fees are based on consultation time and are competitive with general practice.

There are currently three doctors at our clinic - Dr Lewis Ball, Dr Rob Williams and Dr Roger Dehn. Our aim is to provide both general and male-specific health care.

The friendly staff will ensure you feel at ease during your visit. No matter what your health need is, we invite you to come in for a consultation.

Dr Rob Williams

Dr Rob Williams started his training in the UK before receiving his MD and MHSc in Canada. Before medical school he worked as a computer operator, miner and a taxi driver in Toronto. He has been working for Menz Medical for 25+ years. Before that he was a GP in Hornby and held a short term commission with the New Zealand Army. Rob likes dealing with men's health and has done 1000s of vasectomies for the men of the South Island.

Fun Fact: Rob is currently constructing a French themed garden at his home. You will see him spending most his weekend on his digger or tip truck.

Dr Lewis Ball

Dr Ball Graduated from the University of Otago Dunedin School of Medicine in 2009. He has worked as a resident doctor in various medical & surgical services in Auckland City Hospital, North Shore Hospital & Waitakere Hospital before moving with his family to Christchurch. Lewis has worked as a GP at Menz Medical since 2017 and has an interest in the use of clinical informatics to optimise health outcomes.

Dr Roger Dehn

Dr Bernard Teo

Arnie, Nurse

Arnie has been working as a nurse in general practice at Menz Medical for the last few years. He enjoys the ability to enable and empower men to participate in their own health outcomes and goals. He believes in men having regular health checks such as our WoF (head to toe assessment) being the most effective means of this. He has been very happy with the move away from the old office at Kilmore Street as it allows us more scope to build the practice. It has offered us much more space to provide more services and is now complimented by a larger medical and admin team.

Fun Fact: Arnie has a passion for outdoor activities from sailing to tramping in the high country. “It fills my cup of joy.”

Scott, Nurse

Scott graduated with his nursing degree from his home town of Cork in Ireland in 2017. He has been in Christchurch since 2019 and started working at Menz Medical in August of that year. He has a passion for promoting and encouraging a patient centred approach to men’s health. He is very happy to help other men progress and better their health outcomes.

Fun Fact: Scott was a keen rugby player, fisher and golfer back in Ireland. He is excited to start learning how to ski in NZ as his next challenge.

Karen, Practice Manager

Karen has been working as a practice manager at Menz Medical for 25+ years. She strongly supports all aspects of men’s health and always encouraging men to proactively seek their highest level of personal health possible.

Fun Fact: Karen has a bit of a Green thumb and has a large green house. She is regularly tending and caring for her plants.
