Repeat prescription policy

This policy applies to all staff who are employed at MeNZ Medical including locums. Each prescriber is responsible for ensuring that the policy is followed for their patients.

Requests for repeat prescriptions are authorised by the doctors but may be done in association with practice nurses. Prescriptions will not be authorised without a doctor's authority.

Repeat prescribing is only permitted for registered or enrolled patients of MeNZ Medical.

Patients requesting repeat prescriptions should be assessed in a face-to-face consultation at least annually by the doctor in order to continue to receive repeat prescriptions. All repeats will be recorded in the patient's medical notes. Doctors may decline to provide a repeat prescription if in their opinion it is not clinically justified to do so, or the patient's medical history is unknown.

Prescriptions take 2-3 working days to complete at a cost of $28. If an urgent prescription is needed please ring reception and identify this. This will be processed within 10 working hours at a cost of $40.

To request a repeat prescription please ring the nurses phone. If we are not available please leave a message with your name, number, date of birth and phone number. Please state which pharmacy you want it sent to and what medication you need (If known).
